I also love good food, but I gravitate towards places that put a healthy spin on fantastic dishes. When I integrate the food into your Day in LA, (for many people, the most important part,) I try to mention if it's vegetarian, vegan, or allergy friendly. (I.E. If the restaurants have gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free, and other-free options.)
As an artist and mural painter, I also appreciate a good cultural activity. I integrate art shows, music, museums, or any options that add some art to your day. (Don't worry, learning is not mandatory.)

In a city as big as LA, there is so much to do. Unfortunately, not all of it is good. When you live in a tourist town, there's definitely some overrated and overcrowded places. You have to dig to find the gems, but luckily I've done most of the digging for you. A lot of the activities I suggest are away from the mainstream, although there's popular spots that are definitely worth it, so I don't leave them out, either.
And most importantly...I make almost all aspects of your Day as COST EFFECTIVE as possible. So before you spend $20 to park, then pay a $20 cover charge, all to have an over-priced meal that you could have cooked better yourself, check out my suggestions. You'll learn you don't need to spend a lot to have a full day of fun in Southern California. You also don't have to spend a lot to have an entire weekend of fun in SoCal, so I suggest my favorite weekend getaways as well.
Please feel free to leave comments and even suggestions of your own discoveries, and I will try to respond to any questions you post as well.
Have a great Day in LA,
Rachel
